Dr. Durairaj Sekar, M.Sc., Ph.D. Scientist / Associate Professor (BRULAC & DRC)
Dr.Durairaj Sekar, recieved doctoral degree from University of Camerino, Italy. He was Awarded doctoral fellowship from Ministry of Italian Government and University of Camerino, Italy (2008-2011). After that he was worked as a post doctoral Researcher from International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB UN), Cape Town, South Africa since (2011-2013). He published notable scientific research and review articles in many peer reviewed high impact international journals including in nature group of journals. He received Extramural Research grants from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Department of Science and Technology (DST). His research interest is microRNAs biology and its regulations in non- communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes and various types of cancer.
Dr. D. Ezhilarasan, M.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. Scientist In-charge (BRULAC & DRC) Assistant Professor (Pharmacology)
He is the Scientist i/c for Biomedical Research Unit and Lab Animal Research (BRULAC). He has completed M.Sc. with Gold Medal and joined Ph.D., in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Dr ALM. PGIBMS, University of Madras, Chennai. He has obtained various Research Fellowships during his Ph.D., such as DST-INSPIRE, URF, etc. While doing Ph.D. he was selected for Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral Research Fellowship at Laboratory of Hepatology and Cell Therapy, Université Catholque de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium. He has published over 20 research publications with impact factors, and also presented several scientific papers at various National and International Conferences and received best paper presentations awards. His research interests are in vitro / in vivo pharmacology, toxicology, cell signaling, organ toxicity, pharmacognocy, etc. He is guiding 4 part-time Ph.D. students from different parts of country.
Dr. M. Karthik Ganesh, M.Sc. (Anatomy), Ph.D. Scientist (BRULAC & DRC) Senior Lecturer (Anatomy)
Dr.M.Karthik Ganesh, completed his Master and Doctoral degree in Human Anatomy (Faculty Of Medicine) from Dr. ALM. PGIBMS, University of Madras, Chennai. He is a hard core Researcher and an excellent teacher. He has published several papers in reputed International Journals with high Impact Factors. He has also presented several Oral and Poster presentations in National and International Conferences within and outside the country. He has presented his research paper in the Scientific Poster Session of the “46th Annual Meeting of the Society for the Study of Reproduction" in 2013 at Montreal, Quebec, CANADA and received "Larry Ewing Memorial Trainee Travel Fund" Travel Grant Award, for South Asian Zone. He is also guiding students of BDS, MDS, M.Sc., and Ph.D., in research. His research areas of interest are Andrology, Infertility, Ageing, Geriatrics, Neuroscience, etc. His current project is on "in vivo experimentation in Dentistry".
Dr. A. Padmaraj, M.V.Sc., Veterinarian BRULAC
Dr. A. Padmaraj has completed B.V.Sc., in the year 1980 and M.V.Sc. (Microbiology) in the year 1990 from Madras Veterinary College. He worked in various capacities at the Institute of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (IVPM), Ranipet for 30 years from 1982 to 2012 including PG studies and retired as Research Officer. His work experience includes veterinary vaccine production, animal disease investigation & laboratory diagnosis and Allied R&D type of works. Then he worked as a Senior Veterinary Scientist, Head of Quality Control at M/S Bio-Med Private Limited, Gaziabad (U.P) for 3 years (2012-2015). He also worked as In-charge of Animal Experimentation at Biovet, Malur, Karnataka during 2017. He has got 25 publication pertaining to vaccine research and animal disease investigation at his credit. Currently he is working as Verterinary Officer in BRULAC, Saveetha Dental College.
Dr. J. VijayashreePriyadharsini, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., M.D (E-H). Scientist / Assistant Professor (BRULAC & DRC)
Dr. J. VijayashreePriyadharsini has completed her M.Sc., Biotechnology in Vel’s College of Science and M.Phil., & Ph.D., Genetics in Dr. ALM. PGIBMS, University of Madras, Chennai. She was awarded both the JRF and SRF fellowships from DST-PURSE Scheme. To her credit she was the first candidate to be awarded the DST-PURSE fellowship (JRF and SRF) during the doctoral program from the Department of Genetics, University of Madras. Also Worked as Lecturer in Genetics at Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, Maduravoyal where she handled classes for students of UG, PG and Allied Health Sciences. She has also worked as Research Associate and provided assistance for MDS students to complete their dissertation. As a Research Scientist Provided guidance for designing and implementing MDS and Ph.D research. She has published several papers in well reputed International Journals with high Impact Factors. Also contributed for a book chapter and published 2 books.
Dr. A. Paramisivam, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D. Scientist / Assistant Professor (BRULAC & DRC)
Dr. A. Paramasivam, earned his doctoral degree in Molecular Biology - Genetics from the University of Madras. He worked as a post doctoral research fellow for more than five years at CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology. He was awarded the N-PDF (National Post doctoral fellowship) by the department of Science and Technology (DST-SERB), and served as a principal investigator in the project related to mitochondrial diseases. He is the recipient of several travel awards for his work on mitochondrial dysfunction and disorders from the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG), San Diego, USA, He is credited with more than 35 publications in high impact journals. Also presented his work in many national and international forums. He is one among the very few scientist working on clinical and genetic basis of mitochondrial disorders from India. He also identified several novel genes for mitochondrial disorders. His area of expertise include human molecular genetics, cancer biology, mitochondrial dysfunction and diseases, and epitranscriptomics (RNA methylation).
